Indian women’s cricket team is all set to cross swords with the arch-rivals Pakistan at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on July 31 (Sunday). Before that, India will play the first match of their campaign against the World champion Australian team on July 29 (Friday). But there is a different level of excitement among fans for the much-anticipated match between two South Asian giants of cricket.

Indian team is coming off an emphatic series win both in T20I and ODI against Sri Lanka. The women in blue won the three-match ODI series with a handsome margin of 3-0. So, they are coming with a boosted confidence in the Commonwealth Games cricket competition.

Recently, the official broadcaster of the Birmingham Games 2022 Sony Sports Network released a promo of the match between Indian girls and their Pakistani counterparts.

The video posted by Sony Sports Network has gone viral over the social media within minutes of being shared on the Twitter. Fans have also reacted to the video very excitedly as they all are eagerly waiting for this much-awaited encounter in the game of cricket at the 22^nd edition of the Commonwealth Games.

Both teams will play this match at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium. The match will begin according in the evening of 31^st July according to the Indian standard time. The 33-year-old senior all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team Indian team. The management appointed her as the skipper of the team just after former captain Mithali Raj announced his retirement from cricket.

Apart from that, the Pakistani team will be there in the CWG 2022 under the leadership senior all-rounder from Punjab Bismah Maroof.

Speaking from the point of view of India, then talented and star opener Smriti Mandhana alongside top order batter Shafali Verma might be the key factors for India throughout the entire tournament.

Notably, cricket is making a comeback in the Commonwealth Games first time after 24 years since the last time it was a part of the CWG 1998 in Malaysia.
