On 22 July 2023, Toronto Nationals (TN) took on Brampton Wolves (BW) in the fifth game of the ongoing Global T20 (GT20) Canada season 3 in Brampton. Both teams came to this clash after winning their respective opening games. So, both teams were looking to continue their winning momentum. But, it was BW who managed a narrow 1-wicket victory over TN.
Wolves’ Hussain Talat won the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance. But, a video from that match went viral where the former Pakistan skipper, Shahid Afridi was seen taking two wickets in two consecutive deliveries against BW. The incident took place during the 18th over of BW’s innings.

Shahid Afridi scored 15 runs with the bat along with two wickets with the ball
Before that over, BW needed seven runs off 18 balls with four wickets in hand. But, Afridi rolled back the years as he picked up the wickets of Logan van Beek and Tim Southee on the third and fourth delivery. Speaking of the match, the TN skipper, Hamza Tariq won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first, they scored 142 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Nicholas Kirton was the highest scorer as he scored 50 runs off 40 balls, including five fours and one six.
Afridi failed to make any mark with the bat as he scored 15 runs off 12 balls, including only one four. For BW, Logan van Beek took three wickets while both Tim Southee and Shahid Ahmadzai took two wickets each. Hussain Talat also grabbed one wicket. In reply, BW held their nerves and chased down the target in 19.5 overs with one wicket in hand. Talat was the star once again as he scored 44 runs off 33 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Thus, BW are currently at the top of the table with two wins out of two games. While TN are now in the third spot with two points in two games.
