Shaheen Afridi, who made his comeback after getting injured before the Asia Cup 2022, rattled the Afghanistan batters during the warm-up game in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on October 19, Wednesday.
The left-arm pacer played against England in the warm-up game on Tuesday and conceded only 7 runs in the two overs that he bowled. However, the game against Afghanistan turned out to be the best for him as he threatened the batters with sheer pace and yorkers.

For the unversed, Afghanistan were forced to bat first and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who opened the innings faced Afridi’s wrath right away. The batter, however, got out on the very first ball that he faced and he was piggybacked out of the field.
Many opined that the delivery was so fast that the batter had no clue about it. Notably, the delivery hit Gurbaz’s toes really hard and was given out eventually. Afridi, who completed his spell, racked up 2 wickets and conceded 29 runs.
Hope Gurbaz is okay there.

Interesting way to get the player off the field. The commentators were surprised for sure.#AfgvsPak #CricketTwitter #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/5lN2dsh6im
Pakistan will face India next
With the warm-up match ending up with no result, the Men in Green’s next assignment will be against India on October 23 in Melbourne. The two teams will face off in the Super 12 stage and Afridi finding his form back will make things tough for India.
Especially, when it is a known fact that Indian batters do not go well against left-arm pacers. However, the ability to swing will be the deciding factor and fans still remember Matthew Wade’s carnage against the pacer in the semi-finals of the 2021 20-20 World Cup.
India, on the other hand, will look to take him down and lower his confidence going into the tournament. Rohit Sharma, who is prone to getting out to left-arm pacers will have to find a way to tackle him down. In other news, forecasters claim that the match might get washed out due to overcast weather in Melbourne.
If the match happens in such wet conditions, it might favour Afridi who will look to swing the ball along with his toe-crushing pace. As it stands, all eyes will be on the high-octane clash coming up on Sunday this week.
