After an impressive run in the Ranji Trophy since 2019, the star Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan's persistence and hard work have finally paid off as he received his maiden India call-up on January 29 stepping in to replace KL Rahul for the second Test against England. The former India U/19 player has been in prime form in domestic cricket for quite some time now.
Moreover, he recently showcased his talent with a remarkable 161 off 166 balls for India A against England Lions in the unofficial four-day Test Match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Expressing gratitude for his selection in the Indian team, Sarfaraz's father, Naushad Khan, extended thanks to the MCA, the Indian Cricket Board, NCA selectors, and all his supporters for their belief in his capabilities.
“As all of you know Sarfaraz was selected in the Indian team today. I would like to thank everyone especially the Mumbai Cricket Association where Sarfaraz was nurtured. Along with this, he also expressed gratitude to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where he got experience. With a remarkable First-Class record, the 26-year-old has amassed 3912 runs from 66 innings at an impressive average of 69.85, including 14 centuries and 11 half-centuries, with a top score of 301*. Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav was among the earliest to extend congratulations to Sarfaraz Khan on his inaugural India call-up.

In his characteristic manner, Gayle wished the young batter success in his Test career via a story on his Instagram page.
In an Instagram story, Chris Gayle encouraged Sarfaraz Khan, to share a photo of themselves. Gayle and Sarfaraz Khan were teammates initially at Royal Challengers Bangalore and later at Punjab Kings towards the latter part of Gayle's IPL career.
