The fourth match of the T20I series between West Indies and India saw a dominant performance by the visitors. India defeated the home team by 59 runs to seal the five-match series with one match yet to be played. Although Rishabh Pant may have saved India's bacon in the first innings, India's captain Rohit Sharma was displeased with one of Pant's acts during the game at Central Broward Park Lauderhill, Florida.
Pant's deliberate delay in causing a run-out of Nicholas Pooran forced Sharma to lash out. Because the batter was far from the crease when the stumps were knocked loose, the wicketkeeper's action behind the stumps may not have caused any damage, but Rohit was not pleased and scolded the young man for his recklessness, which might have been expensive.
West Indies skipper Pooran tapped one off an Axar Patel delivery in the fifth over of the second innings and sprinted off for a quick single. Unfortunately for him, Kyle Mayers, his batting partner, decided against taking that chance and instead turned around to return to the non-strikers' end when Pooran had already crossed more than half the pitch.
The captain, who was stuck in the middle of the pitch, made every effort to go back to the strikers' end, but Sanju Samson quickly picked up the ball and gave it to Rishabh, who waited before removing the bails. The Indian players began to celebrate, but an enraged Rohit walked all the way down to the strikers' end and scolded Pant.
