Indian team locked horns with Sri Lanka in their second match of the super-4 stage in the Asia Cup 2022. Although, the result of the match came as a disappointment for the men in blue as they lost it by six wickets against the Lankan tigers. As of now, India has lost both the matches of the super-4 round against Pakistan and then Sri Lanka.

The match ended in the last over as Sri Lanka managed to cross the line on the penultimate delivery of the last over. Batting first, the Indians posted a total of 173 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing the target, Dasun Shanka & co scored 174 runs for the loss of four wickets to register a second consecutive win in the super-4 round.

Other than this, all Indian eyes were on young pacer Arshdeep Singh as he was there to bowl the last over for his team. In a video, Arshdeep can be seen suggesting or saying something to the skipper Rohit Sharma but the captain ignored him and went back to his fielding position.

Talking about the match, then the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma played a very good knock of 72 runs off 41 runs with five boundaries and four sixes to his name. Other than him, Suryakumar Yadav scored 34 runs off 29 balls. With the help of these few knocks, India scored 173 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Dilshan Madhushanka ended up as the highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka with three scalps on his credit.

While chasing the target, the opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis provided a very strong start to the Sri Lankan team. They both made a partnership of 97 runs for the first wicket in 11.1 overs. Nissanka and Mendis scored individual half-centuries with scores of 52 and 57 respectively.

Apart from these, the finishing knock of 33 runs off just 18 balls from the skipper Dasun Shanaka helped Sri Lanka to chase down the target in 19.5 overs with six wickets and one ball to spare.
