After the video went viral on social media, there was a clarification regarding the premature fireworks in the game. It was revealed that the fireworks happened as a part of the new year celebrations. It was contrary to the statement of the commentators, who thought it to be a premature work from the home side as a part of winning the game against Melbourne Stars, which was not the case.

Meanwhile, the visiting side won the game by some margin. 207 was chased with relative ease as three batters scored fifty for the Stars.
