The Indian T20 League 2022 has reached the business end of the tournament. The four teams who have reached the playoffs have been finalized. Gujarat and Rajasthan finished at the first and second position on the ladder, while Lucknow and Bangalore take the third and fourth position. The final of the tournament is slated to be played on 29th May 2022.
After the cash-rich tournament, India are set to tour England for an all-format series. The tour will begin with a Test match, which was postponed last year, due to the rise in Covid-19 cases inside the bio-bubble. The Test match will be played from 1st to 5th June 2022.
It will be followed by three Tests and three ODIs. The tour will be concluded with the last ODI on 17th June 2022 on Sunday at Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. Amidst this, the Sony Television Network has unveiled the promo of India’s tour of England.
Bollywood star, Pankaj Tripathi joins hands with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana to make the promo advertisement worth a watch. In the video, the Bollywood star can be seen explaining to the audience that how the team India are all set to beat England in the one remaining Test match and, thereby, win the series, which was started last year. Rohit Sharma is set to lead the team in all formats. The series is likely to feature India’s all the first-choice players such as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah to name a new. However, it has been understood that Virat Kohli might take a break and won’t be part of the squad for the tour of England.
In an interview with Star Sports, he recently stated that he will discuss with Indian team management and head coach Rahul Dravid with regards to taking a break.
“There’s one person precisely who has mentioned it which is Ravi bhai and that’s because he has seen from close quarters over the last six-seven years the reality of the situation that I have been in. The amount of cricket that I have played and the ups and downs and the toll that it takes on you to play three formats of the game plus the IPL for 10-11 years non-stop with the seven years of captaincy in between,” he told Star Sports in an interview.
“So to take a break and when to take a break is obviously something that I need to take a call on, but it is only a healthy decision for anyone to take some time off and just rejuvenate yourself mentally and physically," Virat added.
