In the ongoing practice match between Australia's Prime Minister's XI and Pakistan in Canberra, fielding woes plagued the Pakistani cricket team. In a shocking turn of events, Australian batter Matt Renshaw managed to score seven runs in a single delivery.
The incident occurred during the 78th over bowled by Abrar Ahmed. In this particular over, Renshaw played the fifth ball, driving it for a boundary. Pakistan's captain, Shan Masood, blocked the ball and threw it towards the bowler. However, the series of fielding mishaps began as wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed failed to catch the ball.

Despite the presence of another fielder, i.e., Babar Azam, the ball evaded their grasp, eventually reaching the boundary. Consequently, 3 runs were scored along with the boundary, resulting in a total of 7 runs off that single delivery. This made for a bizarre incident where seven runs were scored on a legal delivery.
Pakistan continues to struggle in practice games
With this, Renshaw also reached his fifty, as he eventually scored an unbeaten 136 runs off 338 balls. At the end of Day 3, Prime Minister XI was looking way ahead in the game. This fielding lapse added to Pakistan's struggles in the practice match. Batting first, Pakistan declared their innings at 391 runs for 9 wickets.
Captain Shan Masood contributed with a notable double century (201 runs). Apart from him, wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmad and Babar Azam also scored runs. In response, the Australian Prime Minister's XI posted 367 runs for 4 wickets at the end of the third day. Renshaw, along with Beau Webster, are still in the middle of hammering the Pakistani bowling unit.
The poor fielding display raises concerns for the Pakistan cricket team as they prepare for the upcoming 3-match Test series against Australia, with the first Test scheduled to commence on December 14 in Perth. The team will need to address their fielding issues promptly to ensure a competitive performance in the challenging series Down Under.
