On 23 July 2023, Mumbai Indians New York (MI NY) took on Washington Freedom (WSH) in the 13th match of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 in Morrisville. MI NY were coming off after a loss while WSH were coming off after a win. But, this time, MI NY managed a victory by eight wickets.

Nicholas Pooran won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock. But, a video from that went viral where the Caribbean batter was seen hitting three sixes in the same over against Obus Pienaar. Seeing such a brutal hitting in the ninth over, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media.

With this massive win, MI NY are now standing at the third position in the table with four points from four games. During the post-match presentation ceremony, he said: βI am really happy that I could contribute today. It was two-paced (surface). They were bowling wicket to wicket. Once we got a good powerplay it made things easier. The platform was set and I knew my role...took on the match-ups for me.β MI NY will be in action again on 26 July 2023 against Seattle Orcas (SEA).
