The Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12) is ongoing and Sydney Thunders faced off against Brisbane Heat on December 27, Tuesday, in Match 17 of the tournament. It was the Thunders who dominated the first half as they managed to restrict the Heat to a meagre total of 121 at the end of the first innings.
While there were many moments to take away from the game, Nathan McAndrew’s delivery to Jimmy Pierson in the 12th over turned out to be the nightmare over for the batter as he took a hit on his helmet in the fifth ball, although, much to the relief of the fans, players and umpires, Pierson continued to bat.

Could Syndey Thunders taste their second victory?
As things stand, to add more to the match, the Heat were restricted to a meagre total and it was Daniel Sams and Chris Green who stood up for the Thunders with their two-fors. While many predicted that it might turn out to be a worse day for the Thunders, much to the delight of the fans, the Green-led team bounced back.
On the other hand, the Heat are going through a rough phase as well, given that the team have already lost 2 out of the 3 matches that they have played in the highly-competitive tournament so far. Given that Colin Munro is the only batter to have stood up for the team, this might come as a concern going forward, as the competition gets tougher and tougher.
As far as the Thunders’ chase is concerned, they remained wicketless, inching towards victory at 71/0 in 9 overs with Matthew Gilkes unbeaten at 31 and Alex Hales at 32. If at all the Thunders manage to pull of a win in the ongoing BBL 12 Match 17, it could come as the much-needed one to turn things around going forward in the T20 extravaganza. On the other hand, the Heat pacers remained hopeless and failed to make a comeback in the game, despite being gifted a few chances.
