In a must-win game for Bangalore on Friday, they put in a sensational performance against Gujarat. Faf du Plessis and Co. managed to restrict the table-toppers to 168 runs in the first innings. On a pitch, which was a bit slow, Bangalore needed to bat exceedingly well to chase down the score. Much to the delight of the fans, they got off to a sensational start.
Virat Kohli returned to form with a brilliant match-winning knock. Skipper, Faf du Plessis also supported him brilliantly as the duo stitched a 115-run partnership for the opening wicket. Du Plessis got out in the 15th over after 44 runs in 38 balls, however, Bangalore didn’t lose momentum.
Glenn Maxwell went after the bowlers right from the onset of his innings and tried to finish the game as early as possible. He played an unbeaten knock of 40 runs in 18 balls, including 5 fours and 2 six. However, the man who stole the show was Virat Kohli. The former Bangalore skipper played a sensational knock of 73 runs in 54 balls as Bangalore chased down the score in just 18.4 overs.
With that win, Bangalore now have 16 points to their name and are currently sitting at number four on the points table. However, if Delhi wins the last league stage match against Mumbai, then they will qualify for the playoffs and Bangalore will be knocked out of the tournament.
All the Bangalore fans are currently wishing Mumbai to beat Delhi. Recently, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli were also seen backing the most successful franchise to win the game on Saturday. In a video shared on the Indian T20 League's official Twitter handle, Faf du Plessis could be heard chanting ‘Mumbai Mumbai’ after Bangalore won against Gujarat.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash between Mumbai and Delhi, Faf du Plessis expects Rohit Sharma to play a match-winning knock.
“You always want to finish strongly. A few inconsistent performances have put us in this situation. I am banking on Rohit to come good,” the South African batter stated.
