India and Bangladesh faced off against each other in the first ODI of the three-match series on December 4, Sunday and much to the stupefaction of the Bangladesh fans, it was Litton Das’ men who clinched the win by just 1 wicket.
To add more, after being forced to bat first, India got off to a poor start as openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got out for cheap scores early in the innings. For the unversed, Dhawan got out for 7 runs while the Indian captain perished after scoring 27 runs, failing to make it a big one.
Eventually, on the back of KL Rahul’s 73, India reached a decent 186 at the end of the first innings. However, the moment of the match happened in the 29th over during Bangladesh’s chase, when the Men in Blue superstar Virat Kohli aimed at the stumps, only to get a firm reply from Mushfiqur Rahim.

Mehidy Hasan's heroics in India-Bangladesh clash
Concerning the Bangla Tigers chase, they got off to a poor start and their skipper Das, top-scored with the bat with his hard-fought 41. Eventually, Bangladesh were reduced to 136/9 in no time chasing the meagre total.
However, Mehidy Hasan’s unbeaten 38 helped them cross the line and seal the game, taking an early lead in the series. Post the conclusion of the match, Rohit opened on the loss and blamed the batters for letting the team down.
“It was a very close game. We did pretty well to comeback into that position. We didn't bat well. 184 wasn't good enough, but we bowled pretty well and they held their nerve in the end. If you look back how we bowled right from ball one - of course we would have loved to bowl better at the end - but we bowled pretty well for 40 overs and took wickets,” Rohit was quoted as saying post India's humiliating loss.
"We just didn't have enough runs. Another 25-30 runs would have helped. I am sure these guys will learn and we look forward to the next game. Hopefully we can change things around. We know exactly what we need to do in these conditions," he added.
