Mitchell Marsh gets emotional after winning the Allan Border Medal
Australian Cricketers met recently for the Australian Cricket Awards 2024 as Mitchell Marsh won the Allan Border Medal. The 32-year-old was visibly emotional after getting the award.
Thanking his teammates and his wife, Marsh said “I'm a bit fat at times and I love a beer but you see the best in me always and you've changed my life. For your support and your leadership, Patty, playing under you is a dream”
The Australian player went on to say “I often spoke to my wife about that I just wanted to get one more crack at it, and it's been amazing. She gave me the perspective on life that I needed” It was during this time that Marsh got emotional and got a huge round of applause.
Finally, Marsh also said, “I'm sort of hoping me winning this is not like Covid and you look back on it and three years and go, 'This was a weird time’ One of my friends sent me the list today and I just thought - if I win it's going to look weird."
Australia are currently leading the World Test Championship table despite their loss. Pat Cummins and his side beat Pakistan with a 3-0 margin to keep their proud record alive. The next red ball assignment is a series against their Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand.
