During Day 2 of the 2nd Test between Pakistan and Australia at MCG, Australian middle-order batter Travis Head energetically entertained the crowd while fielding at the boundary. The left-hand batter was seen engaging in lively stretches which quickly grabbed the spectators' attention.
This video of Head stretching in a spirited display went viral on social media. Despite the strong performance of Pakistan's second-wicket pair, the crowd remained relatively subdued. Shan Masood's impressive 54 and Abdullah Shafiq's 62 posed a challenge for Australia. In response, Travis Head took it upon himself to liven up the atmosphere, prompting an enthusiastic response from the audience. The very next moment, Pakistan's Abdullah Shafiq was dismissed.
This is not the first time that the MCG crowd have gotten so much involved with the fans. In 2022, South Africa's tour to Australia also saw a similar moment in the second Test match. In that game, spectators at MCG enthusiastically cheered the bowler and mimicked, Kagiso Rabada's warm-up exercise near the fine-leg rope, replicating each move. While some might argue that Rabada was engaged in a serious stretch, the smile on his face, well aware of the MCG crowd imitating him, suggested otherwise.

Australia is on top after Day 2 of the second Test
After getting bundled out earlier in the day on the score of 318, the Australian bowling did not have the start that they would have expected. It took them 15 overs to get their first wicket. It was legendary spinner Nathan Lyon who got the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq (10). But after that, it was a brilliant batting performance from skipper Shan Masood (54) and Abdullah Shafique (62).
The duo combined to stitch a brilliant partnership of 90 runs before, Shafique was dismissed courtesy of a brilliant return catch from Pat Cummins. The Australian skipper struck again and dismissed Babar (1) with a beautiful inswinger. The spirited Australian bowling lineup picked up five wickets in the last session. This meant that Pakistan were left tortured from 124/1 at one stage to 194/6 at the end of Day’s play.
