The 48th match of the Indian T20 league 2022 saw Punjab beat Gujarat by eight wickets. Amidst all the hype around this game, it turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. Punjab's bowlers were too good as they restricted the Hardik Pandya-led side to just 143, and picked seven wickets in the process.
After which, Shikhar Dhawan played an absolute gem of a knock as he saw his side through. The opener scored an unbeaten 62 from just 53 balls. However, it was Liam Livingstone's cameo that grabbed everyone's attention towards the end. He effortlessly hit some monstrous sixes.
This included a 117m six as well. It came during the first ball of the 16th over. Mohammed Shami bowled a length ball, which was angling in towards the Englishman. However, the batting all-rounder showed no mercy as he ruthlessly deposited it into the stands. Even the commentators were absolutely shocked, and couldn't believe what they just saw. It went for a 117m six.
This wasn't it as he continued his rampage, and went on to hit two sixes in the next two balls. The last three balls of the over saw him hit two fours. This ensured that the Punjab-based franchise chased their target in the same over itself. Thus, Livingstone ended up scoring an unbeaten 30 from just 10 balls.

Besides, this significantly boosted Punjab's net run rate as well. It is to be noted that Livingstone had also hit a 112m six earlier in the tournament as well. After his side's eight-wicket win over Gujarat, Livingstone stated that he wasn't too sure if he was even going to bat during the innings. He then drew light on the game.
"Swinging hard enough. I didn't think I was going to bat at one point, nice to go out and hit a few out the middle. I thought Shikhar played beautifully to set it up, and Bhanu with that partnership. It was a big win for us and we needed it, we have played some bad cricket in the last couple of games and it is nice to turn it around.
I went up to Mayank and said I fancy going in before you and he said you go in if Bhanu gets out and I go in if Shikhar gets out. We know our roles and also if Mayank is there we have more stability. It is all about learning, it is hard to go in and play the way we wanted to as a new team. We played a bit smarter today and you have to play like that on such pitches," said Liam Livingstone after the completion of the match.
