Former veteran Indian off-spinner involved in a heated argument with a Pakistan anchor during a TV show on the joint program of an Indian and a Pakistani channel ARY news. The anchor happened to question the announcement from the Indian cricket Board’s secretary and ACC President Jay Shah that India will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 next year.
Shah’s decision of shifting the Asia Cup to a neutral has not come in good taste for Pakistan. As soon as Pakistani started this argument, Harbhajan Singh took no time in coming up with his opinions.
This debate went to the next level when the anchor started talking about India’s decision of not to tour Pakistan Asia Cup 2023. He went on to say that if a World Cup is played in Pakistan, the Indian team will travel for sure. Amidst the speculations of Pakistan pulling out from next year’s ODI World Cup in India, Harbhajan Singh came up with a fiery reply to the anchor.
"Ramiz Raza had given a statement last year that Pakistan Cricket does not have the kind of money and that they need to look towards the BCCI. Either that or if the BCCI offers PCB money, Pakistan cricket is surviving. If you feel, you don't want to come to India, please don't. Who is asking you? If you don't want to play in the ICC event, it's your call. If our players are not safe there, we won't send them. Don't play if that's what you want," said Harbhajan during the special show ahead of the India-Pakistan match.
Here's the video:
“Of course, we have (security concerns). You tell me that you'll take the guarantee? Indian cricket can still survive without Pakistan, and if you guys can survive without Indian cricket, do it,” he added.
Subsequently in the conversation, the anchor went on to ‘challenge’ Harbhajan During the live show.
" Harbhajan sir is very confidently saying right now that India won't come to Pakistan. I challenge him… that if a World Cup is held in Pakistan, and the Indian team doesn't come, we shall see,” iterated anchor to Harbhajan Singh.
It literally didn’t go down well with the two-time World Champion bowler. He didn’t hesitate a bit in lashing out at the anchor for the remarks and accepted his challenge too.
"Toh le Liya Bhai tera challenge (I accept your challenge, buddy). Indian cricket knows how to run their cricket. We don't need PCB. We have an issue and we have said it. If the government gives the approval, sure," concluded Harbhajan.
