The much-anticipated franchise T20 tournament SA20 2023 is underway in South Africa as six participating are locking horns with each other to win the inaugural title of the tournament. The players of different cricketing countries are playing for the teams owned by the Indian T20 League franchises. The brilliant display of cricket from the players has also amused ardent cricket fans.
A similar happened during the 5th match of the tournament between MI Cape Town and Durban’s Super Giants at the Newlands stadium. Star Caribbean all-rounder opened the bowling for Durban’s Super Giants as his skipper decided to bowl first after winning the toss.
Mayers amazed everyone with a stunning yorker to young batting prodigy Dewald Brevis on the second delivery of the first over of the innings. The intensity of the delivery was that much effective that Brevis had no reply to that excellence from the Barbados all-rounder.

Speaking of the match between MI Capitals and Durban’s Super Giants, the former posted a total of 152 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Grant Roelofsen notched a crucial half-century and played a knock of 52 runs with four boundaries and a six to his name. Apart from him, middle-order batter George Linde also contributed with 33 runs including four massive sixes his credit.
While chasing the target, riding on the important 30+ run knocks from Kyle Mayers, Wiaan Mulder, and Heinrich Klassen, the visitors chased down the target in 16.3 overs for after scoring 154 runs for the loss of five wickets with 3.3 overs to spare the match. Eventually, Quinton de Kock’s men won the match by five wickets courtesy of the match-defining performance by a player of the match Kyle Mayers.
