Jofra Archer bowling at full tilt in the England net session was a rare sight to behold. Archer has not been in competitive cricket since the Indian Premier League (IPL) in April following a stress fracture of the right elbow, the latest in a continuous run of injuries that included a stress fracture of the back. Archer was England's trump card in the 2019 World Cup where he picked up 20 wickets in 11 games.
Archer has had a very rough last few months but he has been quietly doing a lot of work with Sussex which is his county. In the nets, he joined the England side in the ODIs against New Zealand. Archer was bowling at full steam before he decided to have some fun and bowl left-arm spin.

We see Jofra Archer as a long-time asset - Luke Wright
Archer was not part of the England World Cup squad. However, if he gets to proper match fitness then he might be included in the reserve. If not then he has to wait till England's tour of the Caribbean which will take place in December after the World Cup. If Archer makes it to the squad then this will, be a big boost for England considering Ben Stokes has come out of ODI retirement.
“There has got to be a duty of care with Jof,” said Luke Wright, the national selector, when it came to putting together the provisional squad. “We know how desperate we all are to have him - there’s no doubt about that – but we’ve also got to get it right for him. He’s been very unfortunate with these injuries.
“He’s not going to come round quite quick enough, especially for the first part of the World Cup. There is a duty of care with him. We have to make sure that long-term, we get it right because we see him as a huge asset for a long time. As much as the temptation is to try and rush him in and get him in for the start of this World Cup, unfortunately, we’re just going to run out of time.” Wright added
