India bagged their 8th Asia Cup title on 17 September 2023 after defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets at R Premadas Stadium in Colombo. After the match, all Team India players were seen but a video went viral where Ishan Kishan was seen mimicking Virat Kohli’s waking style and other players enjoyed that.

Against Pakistan, while playing in the middle order, he scored vital 82 runs when the team was in danger.

In the final, he got the opportunity to open the innings and scored 23* runs off 18 balls. Speaking of the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. But, India bundled out them for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs as Mohammed Siraj won the Player of the Match award for picking up six wickets for 21 runs in seven overs. Along with him, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah took three and one wicket each. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill chased down the 51-run target successfully in just 6.1 overs with some aggressive shots all around the park.
After the win, Ishan Kishan thanked skipper Rohit Sharma for sacrificing his opening slot and giving him a chance to open. He said: "All credit to the bowlers, they bowled incredibly well. They were on point from the very first ball. Especially Siraj who was exceptional. We've played a few matches here and we knew it wasn't easy to bat second, but it's okay to lose tosses and we were ready for any situation. Opening was a nice opportunity to go out and play my shots and rotate the strike. Thanks to the skipper for the opportunity. I was just looking to do what I've been doing in the middle order."
