Star Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma is in the headlines since the controversial run-out of English player Charlotte Dean. It all happened during the third and last of the three-match ODI series at the Lord’s cricket ground. Notably, it was the last wicket of England which eventually resulted in the win of India by 16 runs to clinch the series with a clean sweep.

The runout ignited controversy amongst the cricketing fraternity as the experts and fans are divided with multiple opinions. They took to social media for expressing their stand on the issue.

Apart from that, Indian skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur came up with a strong reply to the broadcaster during the post-match presentation. She stood by her fellow teammate and went on to defend her. The reply from Harmanpreet has gone viral and it has also given another point of view for the experts to give it another angular think.

The host questioned Harmanpreet about the dismissal. She opted to avoid the question in the first instance but later she came up with a fiery reply to the broadcaster.

“To be honest, I thought you will ask about all ten wickets because they were not easy to take,” said Harmanpreet. Following this reply from Kaur, the crowd broke into cheers as they were aware of the fact that the presenter was actually trying to ask the Indian skipper.

Speaking of the match, then English skipper Amy Jones won the toss and asked the Indian girls to bat first in the last match of the series. Batting first, India posted a total of 169 runs for the loss of all wickets in 45.4 overs. Star opener Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma played the brilliant knocks of 50 and 68 runs respectively.

While chasing the target, English batting completely crumbled down against the Indian bowlers as they got bundled up only on the score of 153 runs in 43.3 overs. Eventually, India won the match by 16 runs and clinched the series with a clean sweep margin of 3-0.

Renuka Singh stunned everyone with her stellar performance as she scalped four wickets by conceding just 29 runs in her quota of 10 overs with one maiden. Other than him, legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, who was playing her last international match also scalped two wickets by conceding 30 runs in 10 overs with three maidens.
