Gujarat have been brilliant in the Indian T20 League 2022. They ended the group stage as table-toppers. The Hardik Pandya-led side have won 10 out of their 14 games, and have already booked their spot in the first Qualifier.

However, they lost their last game of the group stage to Bangalore by eight wickets. It wasn't just their day as fortune favoured the Faf du Plessis-led side. Nevertheless, their skipper Hardik Pandya getting back amongst the runs was one of the positives for the Gujarat-based franchise. It is to be noted that the all-rounder was struggling to score runs in the last few games.

However, Pandya got back to the groove as he scored a brilliant 62 from 47 balls. While his knock came at a strike rate of 131.91, it consisted of four fours and three sixes. Although he did hit several lusty blows, the 28-year-also accidentally threw his bat in the air as well.

Despite it being unintentional, it was an absolute chuckle-worthy moment. It occurred during the final ball of the 10th over. While Glenn Maxwell was bowling, Pandya tried to deposit the ball out of the park, only for him to miss it. However, it was his bat which flew away. The bat slipped out of Pandya's hand and thus, it went flying towards the square-leg umpire.

The umpire then came towards Pandya to give his bat back. It is safe to say that the ball would have certainly been deposited into the stands if he had managed to connect it. Nevertheless, it was a hilarious moment, to say the least. In the meanwhile, the aggressive all-rounder went on to draw light on the game. He stated that they were short on a few runs.

"We had just a par score. The ball was stopping here and there and we were happy with 168. We wanted to give Lockie the opportunity, but the wicket was holding a bit. So we wanted to go for bowlers who bowled slower ones and took pace off the ball. We pulled things back in the middle but the way Maxwell played, in the end, made us feel we were 10 runs short," said Hardik Pandya during the post-match presentation.
