New Zealand registered an emphatic win against Sri Lanka in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 on October 29, Saturday in Sydney. It was all about Glenn Phillips as the batter entertained the crowd with his magnificent century lifting the team from the initial hiccup in the first innings.
However, during the second innings, Phillips suffered cramps and danced off the field in pain. While he looked in sheer pain, fans, on the other hand, had a bit to laugh about it as the player struggled to stand up on his feet.

New Zealand seal an emphatic win
Concerning the match, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, the New Zealand openers Fin Allen and Devon Conway returned for 1 run apiece. Kane Williamson, the Kiwi skipper, also followed them in quick succession for just 8 runs.
Phillips, who made it to the crease, scored a valiant century and helped the Black Caps put on a total of 167 runs on the board. In return, the batters from the Island Nation failed to chase the target and succumbed after scoring 102 runs.
After the win, the New Zealand skipper Williamson opened up and said that the surface offered some tennis ball bounce. Further, the Kiwi skipper lauded his boys and said that the team executed the plans really well.
“Interesting match, the wicket was different as the surface had some tennis ball bounce so slower balls, cutters were very effective. (On Glenn Phillips) Incredible, any hundred is amazing but the way he worked hard and put pressure on the opposition after our poor start. We were being aggressive but keeping it simple in the powerplay, the length ball was the most difficult to hit, so we stuck to that and those cutters. The boys executed the plans really well,” said Williamson after the match.
As it stands, the Black Caps have put themselves in a strong position to make it to the knockout stages. The team will look to win the remaining matches and will face one of the top two teams from the other group.
