Amid his ongoing controversy with Sreesanth, former India opener Gautam Gambhir slammed broadcasters. In a recent podcast, Gambhir said that broadcasters can't work as PR machines for a particular player. He also spoke about his on-field fights with Virat Kohli and others.
In a promo video shared by News Agency ANI, Gambhir can be seen answering many questions. One of the burning questions he answered was the role of broadcasters in building a player as a brand. While speaking about Gambhir, he said, "Broadcasters should not work as the PR machine for a particular player. If we have a 3-hour-long show and we discuss about one player for 2:50 hours, then the player will become a brand."

Further speaking about his on-field fights, Gambhir said that after the game he can't let anyone walk over his players. "As a mentor, no one can come and walk over my players; I have a very different belief. When the game was on, I had no right to interfere. Once the game is over and someone still gets into a heated argument with my players, I have all the rights to defend them, says Gambhir.
"They didn't get their due," Gambhir says about the 2011 World Cup
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir also spoke about his 2011 World Cup knockout. While questioned about his knock being overshadowed by MS Dhoni's knock, Gambhir said it's all done by broadcasters. "By the end, when India won, your innings were sort of overshadowed by Mahi's innings," asks Anchor.
"Those people who give tags like underrated knock and underrated player are only responsible for undershowing, undervaluing, and underappreciating them. Nothing is underrated, says Gambhir. Further speaking about due credit to Yuvraj Singh, Gambhir says, How many people talk about the player who was Man of the Tournament in 2011? Probably because he doesn't have a good PR agency."
