Watch: Faf du Plessis takes an outrageous catch against MI NY in MLC 2023

On 18 July 2023, Texas Super Kings (TSK) took on Mumbai Indias New York (MI NY) in the seventh match of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) in Dallas. However, TSK held their nerves and registered a 17-run victory over MI NY. Devon Conway won the Player of the Match award for scoring 74 runs.

However, a video has gone viral from the clash where TSK skipper, Faf du Plessis was seen grabbing an outrageous catch. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. Speaking of the catch, it happened during the last over of the match. Daniel Sams came up to bowl as MI NY needed 21 runs.

On the first delivery of that over, Sams bowled a slower and Tim David tried to whoop it out of the park with a massive swing. But, du Plessis dived to his left and completed the catch as he was fielding in the boundary region. Speaking of the match, TKS batted first and scored 154 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, MI NY managed only 137 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Thus, TKS won the match by 17 runs and with this win, they are now in the top spot at the table with four points in three games.

During the post-match presentation, the TSK skipper said: “(What pleased him most) If you look at the power they have in the middle, the strongest hitters in the game - the composure we showed there. Bravo with his experience, and Mohsin, the way he bowled, just pleased with that. (On Bravo) We have played a lot of cricket together. We think alike, our brains are very similarly wired. He identifies as a 29-year-old now (smiles), and he is moving nicely for someone of his age. (On the support) Once again, amazing. Thank you for coming out.
