Tilak Varma announced his arrival into International cricket on 3 August 2023 when Team India took on West Indies in the first game of the ongoing five-match T20I series. He also showed his potential with some blistering and stylish shots as Tilak scored 39 runs off 22 balls, including two fours and three fours.
He has been performing consistently for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last two IPL sessions. So, fans were expecting to see him in the middle order in the series opener. But, after the match, he got a surprise from his MI teammate and the Protea youngster, Dewald Brevis as he made a video call to him to congratulate Tilak on his debut. The Indian Cricket Board shared the video and it went viral instantly.
Here is the shared video:

“For the rest of the series, I am backing you fully.” - Dewald Brevis to Tilak Varma
Speaking of the video, Brevis was seen saying: ‘Hey, brother. I hope you are very excited. I do not know if I am more excited than you, but I just want to say from my side and from the Brevis family, congratulations on your debut. It’s such a great moment for you and your family. I can just imagine how happy your parents and everyone must be. It’s great to see you out there, living your dream out. And it gave me goosebumps that second ball and third ball. Now, just know you always have my support and all the best. For the rest of the series, I am backing you fully. And go win every game for Team India. Cheers, brother.”
However, the cherishable bond between these players is not unknown to fans, especially the MI fans. During the last season, many videos and images went viral where both of them were seen together enjoying and having a good time. However, the debut of Tilak Varma did not end on a positive note as India lost the game by just four runs. In response to Windies’ 149 runs, they scored only 145 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs.
