For those of you who don’t know, both Bangalore and Delhi’s chances of reaching the playoffs dependent on the 69th match on Saturday. Delhi couldn’t play to their potential and had lost the game by 5 wickets in the end. Delhi’s defeat meant Bangalore reached the playoffs and will be playing against Lucknow on Wednesday at Eden Gardens Stadium.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Delhi could only manage to score 159 runs in the first innings. The likes of David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Mitchell Marsh failed to deliver with the bat. However, valuable contributions from Rishabh Pant (39 off 33) and Rovman Powell (43 off 34) meant Delhi reached a respectable score on the board.

There was help for the spinners on the surface. But Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were guilty of not pitching the ball at the right areas. Both couldn’t help the team pick wickets and Mumbai, in the end, chased down the score in 19.1 overs. Ishan Kishan set the tone with a 35-ball 48.

However, it was Tim David, once again, who stole the show with an 11-ball 34-run knock with the bat. Despite the win, Mumbai finished the tournament at the bottom of the table. But the win also meant that Delhi too were knocked out of the race for the playoffs.
