Following a six-month injury lay-off, Indian seamer, Deepak Chahar made his International comeback in the first ODI against Zimbabwe. He delivered an outstanding opening spell and returned with figures of 3 for 27 in 7 overs. All the three wickets came inside the powerplay as he troubled the hosts with his ability to swing the ball both ways.
He ran through Zimbabwe’s top order and helped his team bundle out the hosts for just 189 runs in the first innings. India, eventually, chased down the score in 30.5 overs without losing any wicket.
Following the victory, Deepak Chahar met fans from both nations. Recently, a video, uploaded by Indian journalist Vimal Kumar, had gone viral on the internet where the Indian seamer met a Zimbabwe female fan. In the video, she could be seen asking for Chahar’s permission to take a selfie with him.
"Can I tough you?" one of them asked and put her arms on Chahar's shoulder only when the Indian pacer gave his approval.
“We are very happy, he was so humble and cute,” another one said when asked about their interaction with Chahar.

Deepak Chahar, too, was pretty pleased with all the support he got as he makes his comeback after a long injury lay-off.
“In ODI and Test cricket, you really need the crowd to motivate you at times when things are tough. Really happy to see such large gatherings for matches, we missed them a lot during Covid,” he said.
The Indian pacer further talked about his prospects on getting into the Indian team for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022. Asked if he feels his T20 World Cup doors could open up, Chahar said:
"I can't say if I will be selected or not as that's not in my hands but skill wise I have worked very hard."I think I have picked up from where I had left and today also barring first two overs, I bowled well. I bowled seven overs at one go which is an indicator that my fitness levels are okay," Chahar told reporters after the game.
India have sealed the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe 2-0. The third and the final ODI is slated to be played on Monday at Harare Sports Club.
