Forgotten Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is sending a huge reminder to the Indian selectors. The 33-year-old hasn’t played for India in nearly a year and wasn’t considered for the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

Playing for Uttar Pradesh against Karnataka in the Indian domestic T20 league, the veteran bowler put on a great show. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked 5/16 from just 3.3 overs with all his five wickets coming in his second spell.

The game between Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka was played in Dehradun. Karnataka lost the game by 40 runs to give Uttar Pradesh the chance to go second in Group E. Meanwhile Karnataka is in the third spot with 10 points after their loss on Wednesday.

Karnataka needed 58 runs to win from 24 balls when Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in for his second spell. The first ball was a perfect Yorker to Abhinav Manohar who lost his off-stump for 13.

Two balls later Manoj Bhandage was out caught by Shiva Singh for 13 runs to give Bhuvneshwar Kumar his second wicket. The third wicket arrived a ball later Shubhang Hedge was trapped LBW in front of the wicket for a duck. However, the replays suggested the batter was unlucky as the ball had pitched outside the leg stump.

Vyshak Vijaykumar lost his off-stump to give Kumar his 4th wicket. The magic moment arrived when Kaverappa saw his off-pole pegged back for a duck. Bhuvneshwar Kumar ended with figures of 5/16 from his 3.3 overs as UP won the game by 40 runs.

Chasing 197 to win, Mayank Agarwal was the star with the bat scoring 59 runs from 35 balls. The Karnataka skipper hit 8 fours and 2 sixes before he was dismissed by left-arm seam bowler Mohsin Khan.

Earlier Uttar Pradesh batted first and scored 196 on the board from their 20 overs. Abhishek Goswami scored 77 runs from 50 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes. Nitish Rana showed his prowess with the bat by scoring 29-ball 40 runs with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Rinku Singh and Dhruv Jurel then gave the finishing touches with their explosive batting. The left-handed Rinku Singh was not out on 31 off just 16 balls with four boundaries and a six. Dhruv Jurel was not out on 25 runs which came off 11 balls with the help of 3 massive sixes.
