Over the years, there have been several dismissals that can be termed as "bizarre". However, the recent dismissal of Andre Russell takes bizarre dismissals to a whole new level. This happened during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.
During the second match of the tournament on Friday, Dhaka Platoon were playing the Khulna Tigers. During the first innings, the onus was on Russell and the Dhaka skipper Mahmudullah to take the team to a good total. However, their partnership ended in an absurd manner.
After smashing a six, the Caribbean all-rounder made an attempt to take a single off the final delivery of the 15th over. The over was being bowled by Thisara Perera, who had given nine runs in the previous five balls, while also taking a wicket. However, on the final ball, Russell nudged the ball towards the short third-man where Mehidy Hasan reacted quickly to throw the ball towards the striker’s end
The ball then hit the stumps but fortunately, Mahmudullah was in. However, in an abrupt turn of events, the ball was deflected towards the non-striker’s end and before the Windies all-rounder couldn't even react. He was casually walking down the wicket as he wasn't running towards the danger end.

But he had no idea that the ball deflected towards the non-striker's end and thus, he was well short of his crease. Although it was a fluke event, there weren't any excuses for the 33-year-old to be so casual. Hence, he had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring seven from three balls.
Russell was seen smiling while walking back to the pavilion as he was a tad unlucky in this scenario. Nevertheless, post his dismissal, Mahmadullah scored a quick-fire 39 and took Dhaka to 183/6 in their 20 overs. However, it wasn't enough as the Tigers chased the total with an over to spare.
