The former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam once again found himself at the centre of attraction this time around in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Babar appeared visibly enraged during his match for Rangpur Riders in the BPL 2024 encounter against Durdanto Dhaka on Saturday, January 27, held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Babar expressed his dissatisfaction with Dhaka's wicketkeeper, Irfan Sukkur. Dhaka batter Mohammad Naim Sheikh was observed calming Irfan down.
Babar was overheard repeatedly stating that I was not addressing you as he approached Irfan. Concurrently, Babar expressed his discontent to his batting partner, Mohammad Nabi. Subsequently, the on-field umpires intervened to restore order to the proceedings. This matter later on came to rest as sanity prevailed in the middle.
The prolific Pakistan batter made a remarkable performance as he steered the Riders to a victory by 79 runs. Opening the batting, the 29-year-old swiftly reached his half-century in just 41 balls. The experienced player then proceeded to accumulate 62 runs off 46 balls, including 5 fours and a six, before being dismissed by Danushka Gunathilaka.
