Young Pakistani wicketkeeper Azam Khan has attracted the headlines of social media due to a recent injury he sustained during the match of Lanka Premier League between Galle Gladiators and Kandy Falcons. Both teams locked horns in the ninth match of LPL at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.

Coming back to Azam Khan, the medical staff took him immediately to the hospital for further medical check-ups. The possibilities are still blurred for the availability of Azam Khan in the next match of Galle Gladiators.

The incident happened in the 16th over of the second innings when Falcons were chasing the target of 154 runs. The 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter got a nasty blow on his head on the third delivery of Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Pradeep’s over.

The video of this unfortunate incident is now making rounds on social media. Notably, Azam’s father and the head coach of Galle Gladiators, Moin Khan immediately rushed to check if his son was ok.

Speaking of the match between Gladiators and Falcons, the former posted a total of 153 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Thanuka Dabare played a brilliant knock of 70 runs with six boundaries and two sixes to his name.

While chasing the target, Hasaranga’s Falcons fell 13 runs short of the target and lost the match by 12 runs. Ashen Bandara ended up as the highest run scorer for his team with a knock of 41 runs with three boundaries and a six. Other than him, Chamika Karunaratne was the second batter to cross the mark of 30+ runs.

Thanuka Dabare won the ‘player of the match award for his brilliant match-defining performance in favor of Galle Gladiators.

Currently, Gladiators and Falcons are placed in third and second spots respectively in the points table of the tournament.
