Lyon recently entered the 500 Test-wicket club by representing Australia in 124 Test matches - a testament to his remarkable decade-long journey in the longer format. His consistent performances in both home and away matches are key factors that make him an irreplaceable asset to the team. However, the Aussie great, who has troubled batters across the world with his off-spin wizardry, revealed three batters who posed challenges to him.

In a recent interview, Lyon was asked to name a player he has ever played against. But the cricketer reckoned that he had played against so many greats of cricket that it was difficult for him to filter out just one player. He then picked three players, two of which were from India. His first choice was former India captain Virat Kohli, who has a good record against Australia. The subsequent players were legendary Sachin Tendulkar and South African great AB de Villiers.

"The best player I have played against, that's a very hard question. I have played against some of the greats of the game. I will give you three (names), they will be Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers," Lyon said.

The New South Wales cricketer also revealed the secret to dismissing these batters by challenging their defence for a long time. “The secret to get them out, something that I struggle to do would be trying to challenge their defence for a long period of time,” he said.

Lyon took his 500th Test wicket in the match between Australia and Pakistan in Perth last month. The veteran spinner became the fourth spinner to achieve this milestone with the wicket of Faheem Ashraf. With 505 wickets, Lyon is currently the eighth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.
