On 5 August 2023, Montreal Tigers (MT) locked horns with Vancouver Knights (VK) in Qualifier 2 of the ongoing Global T20 (GT20) Canada Season 3 in Brampton. However, it was MT who came out victorious by just one wicket and qualified for the final of this edition. Abbas Afridi won the Player of the Match award for his exceptional bowling figures.
But, he also bagged a hat trick and that video went viral. He dismissed Corbian Bosch, Rassie van der Dussen, and Najibullah Zadran in three consecutive deliveries. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. Speaking of the hat trick, it took place during the 13th over of VK.

MT will face VK in the final of the GT20 Canada 2023 Season 3
In the last three deliveries of that over, he dismissed those batters. All batters were clueless against the change of pace in his bowling. Speaking of the match, MT skipper, Chris Lynn won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, VK scored 137 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan scored 39 runs off 33 balls while Corbin Bosch smashed 36 runs off 28 balls, including one four and three sixes. Harsh Thake scored 26* runs off 21 balls as they reached the 137-run mark. For MT, Abbas Afridi grabbed five wickets for 29 runs in four overs.
Along with him, Aayan Afzal Khan took one wicket. In reply, MT were in complete trouble after losing seven wickets for 97 runs in 15.3 overs. In the last over, they needed 15 runs and Sherfane Rutherford hit three consecutive sixes to win the game for his team. He remained not out on 48* runs off 34 balls, including two fours and three sixes. For VK, Junaid Siddique was the star with the ball as he picked up four wickets for 22 runs in four overs. Now, MT will face Surrey Jaguars (SUJ) in the final of the tournament on 6 August at the same venue.
