Virat Kohli has been the talk of the town of late post his presser after the Pakistan clash on Sunday (September 4). The Indian veteran said in the post-match conference that MS Dhoni was the only person to text him after resigning from Test captaincy. Fans speculated that the Indian legend might be going through something.
“When I left my test captaincy, only Dhoni called me, nobody else did, even though many had my number. There is a certain amount of respect and connection you have with someone and if it is genuine it shows. It also shows there is security in the relationship,” Kohli said in the presser.
"Neither I want anything from him, nor does he want anything from me. And neither was I ever insecure of him, nor was he insecure of me about anything," he said further.
Post the presser, the veteran faced a lot of backlash saying that he did get humongous support. An official from the Indian cricket board slammed the legend for lying in front of everyone. Sunil Gavaskar criticized the 33-year-old for not naming the person directly.
Amid all this chaos, Virat Kohli has come up with a cryptic Instagram story. “Notice the people who are happy for your happiness, and sad for your sadness. They're the ones who deserve special places in your heart," his story read. This led to speculations from fans yet again as they wanted to know if everything was ok with him.
Virat Kohli's revelation prior to the Asia Cup 2022
Prior to the Asia Cup 2022, the Bangalore batter revealed that he was not well mentally during the break. He added that he was faking his intensity and opined that he did not touch the bat during the break.
"I came to the realisation that I was kind of trying to fake my intensity a bit recently— you know you can do that, you are competitive and you are saying I have the intensity but your body is telling you to stop and it is telling you to take a break and step back. I am looked at as a guy who is very mentally strong and I am," he said to Star Sports.
"Trust me, faking to be strong is far worse than admitting to be weak," Kohli concluded.
These recent developments show that something is not going well for the Delhi-born. As it stands, only he knows what he is going through and fans can only wish him well. Arguably, the 33-year-old has played decent knocks in the Asia Cup 2022 and one must hope that these developments don't affect his game on the field.
