Virat Kohli's brother dismisses rumours regarding mother's poor health condition

Vikas Kohli, the brother of Team India's influential batsman Virat Kohli, refuted rumors surrounding their mother Saroj Kohli's health on January 31. The star India batter opted out of the Indian Test squad for the first two matches of the ongoing five-game series against England, citing personal reasons.

While the specifics of his withdrawal from the Hyderabad and Vizag Tests remain undisclosed, speculation suggested it was due to concerns about his mother's health. In an Instagram story, Vikas Kohli criticized the media for disseminating false information about his mother's health. He implored both the public and the media to abstain from spreading unsubstantiated news.

"Hello everyone. I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom's health been circulating around. Let me clear that our mom is absolutely fit and fine. Also, I would request everyone and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information," Vikas wrote in a post on Instagram.

Virat Kohli missed the first two Test against England

Before the start of the five match Test series against England, the Indian Cricket Board stated in a press release that the star India batter Virat Kohli has requested to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming Test series against England due to personal reasons. This was a huge call considering Virat’s phenomenal number in India. The star batter even spoke to skipper, Rohit Sharma about the decision.

"Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention. The board respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter and is confident in the abilities of the remaining squad members to step up and deliver commendable performances in the Test series," the statement further read.

Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan have been drafted into the Indian team as batting reinforcements following the absence of Kohli and KL Rahul. While Rahul's return for the third Test remains a possibility, there is no update regarding Virat's status.
