The Kashmir Premier League is a T20 league which aims at showcasing Kashmir's talent and prominence to the world. After the inaugural edition, the fans are set to witness its second season. In what comes as big news, India's star cricketer Virat Kohli has been invited to participate as well.
Arif Malik, who happens to be the KPL president, recently said that an official invitation will be sent to the batting maestro. In a statement, he mentioned that Kohli has been offered to play in this league as well. He spoke about how KPL sends a message of peace to the world and thus, stated that they wanted Indian players to be a part of this league.
“We want Indian cricketers to be part of the league and want to reduce tensions on both sides through cricket,” said Arif Malik, as quoted by Zee News. However, he also mentioned that it was up to Kohli to decide if he wants to be a part of the league as a player, or simply participate as a special guest.
It is to be noted that the KPL is all set to start from August 1. As a matter of fact, the grand finale is scheduled to take place on Pakistan's 75th Independence Day, i.e. August 14. Further on, Malik said that the fans would get to see a fantasy league where Muzaffarabad and Srinagar will be virtually playing against each other.
“Along with the KPL, cricket fans will also get to see a fantasy league in which teams from Muzaffarabad and Srinagar will be seen playing virtually with each other. We want to bring people of both sides together so that we can spread the message of peace,” he added.
As for Kohli, it is yet to be seen if he responds to the same. In the meanwhile, the 33-year-old is currently representing Bangalore in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. However, he hadn't really been in the best of form of late. The Delhi batter has only been able to score 236 runs in 13 games at an average of 19.67.
