Marcus Stoinis, the Australian all-rounder had a decent run in the Indian T20 League where he helped the Lucknow team reach the Eliminator. They lost to Bangalore in the eliminator by 14 runs, but their maiden season could certainly be termed as a successful one. The Lucknow team gave a great fight to the competition in a season where successful teams languished at the bottom of the points table. The 33-year-old's international form hasn't been great either. Having made more than 23,000 international runs, the century counter of the Delhi-born batter seems to have stopped altogether. In the meantime, his opponents like Joe Root, Steve Smith and Babar Azam continue to pile up centuries itching closer and closer to the Indian batsman. Azam for example has been in a great reign of form having become the only batter to make three consecutive centuries twice!
Virat Kohli is currently given rest for the ongoing India-South Africa T20I series in hopes of finding his lost form. The Indian batter is slated to resume services in the rescheduled match against England on July 1. Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis was last seen playing in the second of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
