Shaheen Shah Afridi is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world cricket in the modern-day game. He is the pace spearhead in Pakistan’s fast bowling department. Since making his debut in 2018, Afridi has come a long way and currently represents Pakistan in all three formats.
Recently, he the Pakistan speedster spoke his heart out in an interaction with the ESPN Cricinfo. However, when asked about picking one between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, he chose to play it safe. The Pakistan speedster didn’t pick one and said, “I like both, yeah!”
The 22-year-old fast bowler also picked his teammate Mohammad Rizwan ahead of Jos Buttler and picked Pakistan Super League over Indian T20 League. Interestingly, Pakistan speedster have never participated in the Indian T20 League. However, he led Lahore Qalandars to their maiden PSL title in the last edition.
The last time when India met Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup in 2021, Shaheen Afridi ran through India’s top order, picking the wickets of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli.
He returned with a match-winning spell of 3 for 31 in 4 overs. His spell helped the team restrict India to just 151 runs in the first innings. Pakistan, in reply, chased down the score with 10 wickets in hand.
In his illustrious career, Shaheen Afridi has picked 95 wickets in 24 Tests at an average of 25.1. In 32 ODIs, he has 62 wickets at 23.9. He has also represented Pakistan in 40 T20 internationals, picking 47 wickets at 24.3.
In the ICC ODI bowling rankings, Shaheen Afridi sits at number six position with 671 points to his name. In Tests, he sits at fifth spot with 827 points, while in T20 internationals, he finds himself at 10th position.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are currently playing a white-ball series against West Indies. They whitewashed West Indies 3-0 in the T20I series and currently lead 2-0 in the three-match ODI series.
