Notably, England and Pakistan met each other in the final of a World Cup after a wait of 30 years since they faced off each other in the ODI World Cup of 1992. That was the time when Imran Khan-led Pakistan outclassed Graham Gooch’s England in the final to win their first-ever title in the history of the World Cup.

But this time, Jos Buttler & co. finally cleared off their books with Pakistan for the defeat in the last meetup in the 1992 WC Final at the same venue of the MCG in Melbourne. Subsequently, a lot of former cricketers and experts are praising the performance of England in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 to win the eighth edition of this most coveted tournament of the shortest format of the game.

Meanwhile, former Indian skipper and highest run-scorer of this edition of the 20-20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has come up with a special congratulatory message for the three lions following their amazing and thrilling win in the final clash against Pakistan to win the title.

The 34-year-old veteran Indian batter happened to post a snap of winning moments of the English team in the final. “Congratulations England, well deserved (with a thumbs up emoji),” reads the message from Kohli for the England team.

Speaking of the match between England and Pakistan, the men in green could post only a total of 137 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Senior batter Shan Masood and skipper Babar Azam contributed with individual scores of 32 and 38 runs respectively.

While chasing the target, veteran all-rounder Ben Stokes played a brilliant knock of 51 runs off 48 balls with five boundaries and a six to cross the finishing line for England on their way to the second title in the 20-20 World Cup.
