Virat Kohli will be one of the key players for Team India for both the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. But, in recent times, there has been a debate about whether he should bat at the number three or four position for the needs of the team in these upcoming tournaments. The former Team India coach, Ravi Shastri also said that Kohli at number four can solve India’s all concerns.

Now, his former RCB teammate and former Protea international, AB de Villiers also came up with his views and claimed that Virat Kohli is the perfect number four for Team India going forward. On his YouTube channel 'AB de Villiers 360’, de Villiers said that Kohli has all the ability to put the innings together and play any kind of role in the middle order.

“I don't know if he would like to do that.” - AB de Villiers on Virat Kohli

He said: "We're still talking about who will be the No. 4 batter for India. I've heard some rumours about Virat possibly taking up that position. I would be a big supporter of that. I think Virat is perfect for No. 4. He can put the innings together, play any kind of role in that middle order. I don't know if he would like to do that. We know he loves his No. 3 position; he's scored all his runs there, but at the end of the day, if the team needs you to do something, play a certain role, you have got to put your hand up and got for it."

Meanwhile, at number four, Kohli’s record has been pretty good. He has seven centuries at that position and scored 1767 runs in 39 innings, at an average of 55.21 with a strike rate of 90.66. He has eight fifties also to his name. Even, in the 2011 ODI World Cup in India, he played at the number four position. Gautam Gambhir played at the number three position.
