After an intriguing day of Test cricket between India and Sri Lanka on Friday, the second day of the first Test saw Ravindra Jadeja dominate the proceedings. Despite making a comeback after an injury, it looked like the all-rounder never really left. While the pundits and fans expected a close contest, Jadeja came out with all "swords blazing".
After putting on a crucial partnership with Rishabh Pant on the first day of the Test, the southpaw came together with Ravichandran Ashwin to produce a massive partnership. Although he was dismissed after scoring a half-century, Jadeja went on to score a brilliant century. He reached the three-figure mark during the first session of the second day.
He looked really confident, and took all the Sri Lankan bowlers to the cleaners. The fact that his hundred came just a day after the tragic demise of the legendary Shane Warne, who had coincidentally nicknamed Jadeja "Rockstar" comes as a perfect tribute.
India 468/7 at Lunch on Day two
Thus, Warne would definitely be smiling from the heavens. After scoring a hundred off his 160th delivery, the "Rockstar" showcased his unique sword celebration, which got the helmet shield as well. So far, Jadeja has hit 10 boundaries.
He looks in no mood to stop and thus, it wouldn't be surprising if he continues to play the big shots. The first session on Day two belonged to the hosts as they managed to score 111 runs, and lost just the one wicket. Thus, India are currently 468/7.
Jadeja's improvement as a batter was clearly visible on Saturday. Thus, several Twitter users went on to appreciate his knock. They praised his batting performance, and cited the fact that he has significantly worked on his batting. As he's currently batting on 102, it will be exciting to see how many more runs he ends up scoring.
100* off 160. Rockstar Jadeja. You’ve made him proud. ❤️
