On day four of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final, Australia managed to score 270 runs for eight wickets. Then, they declared their second innings and set a 444-run target for India to win this epic final at the Oval. Then, for India, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma came out as openers.

They gave a good start to the team but Gill got out on the first delivery of the eight over in a controversial manner. Boland’s ball took an edge of Gill’s bat and Green took an outrageous catch to dismiss him. But, the batter and on-field umpires were not sure as the decision went upstairs. Richard Kettleborough was the TV umpire. He looked from different angles and finally adjusted Gill out. Fans and Indian players were not happy as it seemed that the ball would have touched the ground.

Later, some images came out from the back angle and in a closer range where the ball looked to have touched the ground while grabbing. So, Indian fans went crazy and they slammed the umpire on social media. Speaking of the match, Australia kicked off day four with 123 runs on board with four wickets down and a lead of 296 runs. Then, India managed to take the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green. Labuschagne scored 41 runs off 126 balls, including four boundaries and Green scored 25 runs off 95 balls, including four boundaries. Then, Alex Carey smashed 66* runs while Starc also scored 41 runs.

Finally, they declared after scoring 270 runs for eight wickets and gave India a mammoth total of 444 runs to chase down with more than four sessions to go. However, Gill got out on 18 runs and then, Rohit put up a partnership of 51 runs for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara. Then, they lost both Rohit and Pujara in two consecutive overs and India were struggling at 96 runs for three wickets in 22 overs.
