Every player in international cricket dreams to win the 20-20 World Cup for his team. Although, some of the renowned names in international cricket like former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Proteas legend AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Rashid, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and other big names are still awaited to lift the coveted title for their team.

Similarly, there are many players who have played a lot in the World Cups for their teams but couldn’t win titles always. Whereas, there are still two cricketers who have won the T20 World Cup trophy for their teams even before turning 18 in their life.

So, without further ado, here we’ll have a look at those two players who lifted the title in the shortest format of the game before being an adult.

Mohammad Amir – Pakistan (20-20 World Cup 2009)

The Gujjar Khan-born Punjabi lad appeared for the first time in the 20-20 World Cup while playing for the national side of Pakistan. It was the second consecutive time that the men in green qualified for the title clash in the marquee tournament. Amir was a part of the Younis Khan-led squad that won the title in the second edition of the 20-20 World Cup.

In the final match of the tournament, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by a margin of eight wickets. Former legendary skipper and veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi played a match-defining half-century knock to help Pakistan to win the title. Recalling Amir’s outings in the tournament, he was only 17-year-old at that time and was a part of the playing XI in all matches for Pakistan. The then-young teenager scalped six wickets with a fine economy rate of 7.29 to his name.

Ahmed Shehzad – Pakistan (20-20 World Cup 2009)

The second player in this list of teenage World Cup winners is also from Pakistan. The man who belongs to the heat of Punjab, Lahore, Ahmed Shehzad appeared in the second edition of the 20-20 World Cup for Pakistan. Notably, the World Cup was played in June 2009 and Shehzad was about to turn 18 on the 23rd of November, 2009.

Although, he could face only seven balls and score four runs. Shehzad and Amir were dubbed as the future of Pakistan cricket. Nonetheless, they both have a good record at the highest level of the game while playing for Pakistan but they both are not in the current plans of the Pakistani selectors.
