Hyderabad have now lost three consecutive games. The 50th match of the Indian T20 league 2022 saw Delhi beat them by 21 runs. With the race to the playoffs getting intense with every passing game, this victory was much-needed for the Delhi-based franchise. This is their fifth win in 10 games.
After being asked to bat first, Delhi's Mandeep Singh was dismissed in the first over for a duck. It is to be noted that Prithvi Shaw didn't feature in this game and thus, the 30-year-old was playing in his place. However, David Warner was batting like a dream, and was simply too good for Hyderabad's bowlers.
He went on to score an unbeaten 92 from 58 balls. While his knock came at a strike rate of 158.62, it consisted of 12 fours and three sixes. The fact that it came against his former franchise turned out to be an icing over the cake. He was well supported by Rovman Powell towards the end. The Jamaican showed no mercy on the bowlers as he hit some humongous blows. Powell went on to score an unbeaten 67 from just 35 balls.
As for Hyderabad's bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was superb as he only gave 25 runs in his full quota of four overs, and also picked a wicket. However, Umran Malik turned out to be expensive as he leaked 52 runs in his four overs. Hence, the first innings saw Delhi score 207-3. After which, Hyderabad lost their blue-eyed boy Abhishek Sharma rather early.
The youngster was dismissed for seven. His skipper Kane Williamson failed to impress as he had to return to the pavilion after scoring an 11-ball four. The fact that the orange army kept losing wickets at regular intervals didn't really help their cause. Just when Aiden Markram looked set, he perished in the 13th over after scoring a 25-ball 42.
Nicholas Pooran tried his best to win the game for his side, but to no avail. He scored a brilliant 34-ball 64 before returning to the pavilion on the 18th over. Khaleel Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets, At the end, the Hyderabad-based franchise could only score 186-8 and thus, failed to chase their target. Several fans took to Twitter to speak about the game.

The come back story of David Warner will be remembered forever - dropped from SRH team then Man of the tournament in T20 WC 2021, scoring runs for fun in IPL 2022 including unbeaten 92*(58) vs SRH.

David Warner you bloody legend. pic.twitter.com/l6H83L5VJZ
The last over not withstanding, Marsh has done his job with the ball. You'll take 1-20 off his 3 overs anyway, let alone on a day you're defending 207.

Warner doesn't care about his 100. He just wants to burn SRH...lol

Delhi Capitals have been the most up and down team in this tournament. One day, they win by a huge margin and the next day, they lose a game they should be winning. #SRHvsDC

Pooran what a player, even his super human effort night not be enough tonight but boy has my respect always. Also SRH has Abbott coming at 7, just shows what a poor auction they had.

Former SRH players are ruining sunrisers playoff chances. Otherday, it was Saha and Rashid and today it is Warner...

More than loosing the match, the way Warner showing agitation on us was more painful.
Not sure, from now onwards, how many years these guys will haunt us...
