The Islanders’ skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat first against India in the penultimate match of the three-match ODI series.

Batting first, the visitors’ batting lineup couldn’t live up to the expectations and got bundled up on the score of 215 runs in 39.4 overs. While chasing the target, the hosts chased down the target in 43.2 overs courtesy of KL Rahul’s perseverant knock of 64 runs including three boundaries. Eventually, the Indian team won the match by four wickets and has now taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series.

Reacting to KL Rahul’s brilliant knock, the fans came up with some hilarious and interesting memes after his match-defining knock. Notably, the 30-year-old was struggling with a poor run of form with the bat since the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Eventually, Kuldeep Yadav won the player of the match award for his brilliant bowling performance in the first innings against Sri Lanka.
