All eyes are set on the first Test between India and Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The series will kick off on 9 February 2023 in Nagpur. But, the main talk of the town has been the pitch in Nagpur that is to get used for the match. However, it will be a huge opportunity for Rohit Sharma also to win this series and get qualified for the ongoing World Test Championship final.

Rohit Sharma last played for India in the longest format of the game on 12 March 2022. So, he will look to make a solid comeback as a batter also in the red-ball format. But, his fitness has been a concern and that is why he missed many matches for team India last year. Now, on 8 February, an image has gone viral where Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were seen closely checking the Nagpur pitch.

Speaking of the image, fans were seen slamming Rohit Sharma for his tummy. Speaking about the pitch of Nagpur, on 7 February, Cricket Australia shared some images where Steve Smith and David Warner were seen monitoring the pitch closely. While speaking to the reporters, Steve Smith said that the pitch is pretty dry, particularly at one end. He also claimed that the ball will take a bit of spin, particularly the left-arm spinner taking it into our left-handers. Australia's vice-captain said that there is less chance of a heap of bounce in the wicket. 

Meanwhile, star India batter, KL Rahul said that the Men in Blue might look to play three spinners in the playing XI. He said: “Yes, we did see it (the pitch), but it’s still too early to really know what the pitch is going to do. We need to come here on the day of the match to know how it’s really going to play. We can only look at it and assume it’s going to play a certain way, but you never know with pitches. Yes, there is the temptation to play three spinners because we’re playing in India. We’ll take that call on the day of the game or the day before the game.” But, now, fans have started to slam Rohit Sharma for his fitness.
