Rajasthan won their third game of the Indian T20 league 2022 as they beat Lucknow by three runs on Sunday. It was an absolute cracker of a contest as the game went up to the last over. However, it was Trent Boult's spell in the powerplay that played an influential role in this win.
He bowled three out of the first six overs, and picked two wickets. As a matter of fact, both the wickets came during the first over of the second innings. The Kiwi pacer managed to dismiss KL Rahul and Krishnappa Gowtham. However, the wicket of the Lucknow skipper was very crucial as he had the capacity to single-handedly win the game.
Boult bowled an unplayable inswinger which ensured that Rahul's off and middle stump were uprooted. After the completion of the match, the pacer drew light on the dismissal. He revealed that it was his teammate James Neesham who gave him the idea to go with that kind of a delivery to dismiss the opener.
“It was a late call at breakfast, and it was Jimmy Neesham’s idea to go with that plan against KL Rahul. I don’t want to give him too much credit (laughs). My role with the new ball is to take as many wickets as possible. It’s a pretty simple game for me at the top and get it to swing. The humidity and the overheads assisted it,” said Trent Boult.
In the meanwhile, he also praised the debutant Kuldeep Sen for his performance. It is to be noted that the youngster defended 15 runs in the final over against Marcus Stoinis. Boult appreciated him. When asked if he would watch his bowling once again, the 32-year-old hilariously said that he would first watch his batting.
“Limited English from Kuldeep, he runs in hard though. He executed it well in the end and he is only going to get better. Some quality fast bowling in our side and in the tournament going around. I’ll probably watch my batting before my bowling (laughs),” he added.
