The match between India and Pakistan has not gotten better in terms of being clear to play. The rain interrupted the match as India had scored 147 runs for the loss of 2 wickets after 24.1 overs in Colombo after being asked to bat first by Babar Azam. While Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a show before the rain arrived, it has been a nightmare for the fans who arrived in the stadium to watch the match.

From 4:45 PM IST, it has been raining heavily at the venue. There has been a constant start and stop of the rain droplets, which has frustrated the fans and the ground staff. The work is going behind getting the venue ready for the resumption of the match.
There were two areas which were hit heavily by the water. They are to be dried up quickly for the resumption of the game. The on-field umpires confirmed the fact that the square leg region and the point region has have gotten very wet and soft. As a result, it might take a bit more time for the ground staff to dry up the surface.
Umpires' verdict on possibility of the match
The ground staff were seen using fans to dry up the surface quickly. The images of fans being used to dry up the surface were hilariously trolled by the cricket fans. Chris Gaffney and Ruchika Palliyaguruge, the two on-field umpires in the match, gave the update regarding the playing conditions.
“We have got two main issues, near square leg and point. They are quite wet and soft. The foundation of the ground there is too soft and dangerous for the players. We are trying to dry it with fans and will have a look in another 10-12 minutes. We think we are trying our best as ground staff are possibly looking at 9pm start. But we have to see how it goes at this point,” added the umpires and hoped for a quick resumption of the play.
