Jasprit Bumrah is arguably one of the greatest bowlers of this era. His achievements and records have led to him becoming an inspiration. Several cricketers have tried to copy his bowling action as well. Several pundits and experts have gone on to record several times to speak about his abilities as a pacer.
It is to be noted that his bowling action is unique, and one of a kind. Thus, many cricketers and fans have tried to replicate the same. Recently, a video of Australia's Nic Maddinson imitating Bumrah's action went viral on social media.
Although he is primarily a batter, the 30-year-old also bowls left-arm spin. During a Sheffield Shield game that saw Victoria take on Western Australia, Maddinson tried to copy Bumrah's action. It was in the 161st over when he decided to do the same. While he was bowling to Aaron Hardie, the change was pretty evident. It took everyone by surprise.
His steps were much shorter, and his arms were stiffer in nature. After delivering the ball, the batter decided not to play it as it was too wide for his liking. Even the commentators started to chuckle over his bowling. They couldn't believe what they saw.
"Well… well bowled Bumrah," said the commentator on air. Thus, the video went viral in no time, and several fans started to share it as well. A user called it a "Chinese copy of Bumrah". Many other fans took to Twitter to speak about the same. As far as the game is concerned, it ended in a draw with Western Australia declaring after scoring 400. Sam Whiteman went on to win the player of the match award. The Shaun Marsh-led side were crowned the Sheffield Shield 2021/22 champions.
Here are some of the Tweets that spoke about Nic Maddinson copying Jasprit Bumrah:
